Description
Chia Seed - Concentrate in a tiny seed.
Chia seeds come from the plant 'Salvia Hispanica', a Mexican relative of the mint plant. The flowers of this plant produce small seeds that are somewhat reminiscent of poppy seeds. Chia seed was used for thousands of years by the Mayans and Aztecs as food and medicine. The seeds were particularly known for their energy boost: when the warriors had to travel long distances, they were given a handful of Chia seeds.
Chia seeds have a neutral taste and can therefore easily be used in all kinds of dishes. Your body can absorb the nutrients best if you first soak them for a while, so that a kind of gel is formed. Sprinkle a tablespoon into your smoothie, fruit juice or breakfast, or sprinkle it over your salad.
